Repress Roundup #1
- Jack Smith
- On July 8, 2014
Vinyl Addicts Anonymous – this one’s for you. Collating the hottest represses in stores now – blink and you’ll miss em! Or blink, and save yourself from spending any more money than you already have done. Sounds boring doesn’t it…..
KMFH – Down!/Xero + Our Love! [Wild Oats]
This one’s a no brainer – squelchy bubblegum party music with a swagger that justifies the MF in KMFH. Down! had a limited press a good while back and has been rare as nips ever since. Prices are rising steadily on the ‘Dogs already – quick quick.
Still in stock at Redeye.
Rick Wilhite – Soul Edge EP [Rush Hour]
Rush Hour have been on a repress mission recently (yay!) and this is our pick of the bunch – bouncy carnival-esque vibes featuring three fourths of Detroit supergroup the 3 Chairs, what’s not to like? Surprised it’s still going considering the usual circus surrounding KDJ presses.
Still in stock at Redeye, Rush Hour.
Floating Points – Vacuum EP [Eglo]
A record that seems to stay in a perennial state of repress yet with good reason, ‘Vacuum Boogie’ still a show-stopper and perhaps the best of the producer’s more club-focused tunes. Every FP record is on point (ahem) and one day the Eglo repress extravaganza will come to an end so it’d be best to jump on board before it’s too late.
Still in stock at Redeye, Juno, Norman.
Lenzman – Open Page / Coincidence [Metalheadz]
Lenzman on absolute top form. Quite beautiful work from the Dutchman, repress to coincide with the recent release of his debut album Looking At The Stars. One that will keep its value forever methinks.
Pre-order from Redeye.
Dub Phizix – Out There / Athos [Ingredients]
Dub Phiz’ debut single proper and still an absolute belter, the producer on top form and a shining example of why he leads the way with this sound (honourable nod to Skeptical). Intricate and unique.
Pre-order from Redeye.
