For the latest edition of our guest mix, we head to North Africa – Tunis, Tunisia to be precise – with Ben Aus, one of the region’s most exciting budding producers. With driving, club-strapped releases out on two US mainstays alphahouse and the aptly named Little Helpers, Ben’s productions have been steadily creeping into the sets of DJs across the tech house circuit.

Both those labels are run by another stalwart of the scene, Butane, whose faith in the young African’s output has played a pivotal role in his increasing eminence. But it’s easy to hear why he’s so optimistic.

His six-track EP on Little Helpers, out last month, spans a variety of moods – from eyes-down after hours burners, to hands-high club soul – though the unrelenting pace of each remains constant. What drew our attention particularly is the way in which Ben injects a raw emotion into his productions that’s rarely executed with such finesse within tech house.
