We’ve been sitting on this one since the start of the year but it’s been impossible not to give it a few outings. It comes from French duo Dixia Sirong, who are based out in Singapore, as they return with the Di Er EP, their second offering for Chez Damier‘s Inner Balance.

It follows on from the Di Yi EP, a meditative 4-tracker which had ‘Winnie’ as the jewel in its crown, and continues more or less in the same vein, though opting for a slightly broader, and warmer, sound palette. After a tempered, ethereal opening, ‘Yohji’ develops into an eyes-down, dubbed-out subterranean groove that’s as much spiritual as it is physical.

A bit of trivia for you: Jorge Caiado, the man behind Lisbon record shop-turned-label Carpet & Snares, had a hand in their first EP as executive producer. We’ll be premiering a track from his brilliant new record next month.
