Ground!d Music might be one of the most exotic labels we’ve ever featured. Operating out of Nairobi, by way of Serbia, LA and London, it’s run by LA Dave, a prolific DJ on the East African electronic circuit and one of Hoxton FM‘s longest serving presenters before the station’s untimely transition earlier this year. Trading in tight tech and micro-house from South America to the south of France, they’ve managed to release 15 EPs in just over two years without compromising on sound or quality. The joys of running a digital only imprint, perhaps!

Their first release of 2018 comes from Toulouse based producer Lukea, a member of the Label Sphère collective hailing out of the south of France which put out his debut Cupidity EP earlier this year, invoking the swing and silk of Paris legend Jef K. Here, he offers up a pair of deep and driving dub house cuts, both under the title of ‘Maple’. ‘Part 1’ is the more refined of the two, its precise groove and euphoric stabs building to a luscious crescendo. One for your ‘Moments’ folder!
